NBC Lands Karaoke Comedy Project Adam Levine To Create, Mike Kasdan To Direct
EXCLUSIVE: NBC is growing its relationship using the Voice star Adam Levine towards the scripted side. Following a putting in a bid, NBC has nabbed just one-camera comedy project, using the Maroon 5 frontman executive creating and Mike Kasdan mounted on executive produce and direct. The ensemble comedy set in a karaoke bar, that has received a script commitment plus penalty, has been created by twentieth century Fox TV and Chernin Entertainment. I hear a minimum of three systems wanted the project, that is stated to organically blend comedy having a musical element, but NBC was very aggressive, largely due to the participation of their reality star Levine. This marks the very first major NBC purchase from 20th TV because the studio's former EVP Jennifer Salke was named NBC entertainment leader earlier this year. The auspices about the project are interconnected inside a classic Hollywood situation of Six Levels of Separation. Levine and also the project's author, Gene Hong (The Goode Family), are longtime buddies (and roommates), along with a karaoke bar is apparently where their friendship began. Meanwhile, Levine's manager Jordan Feldstein may be the brother of Jonah Hill, both visited senior high school together. Hong works as a author on Hill's new 20th TV/Chernin-created animated comedy for Fox Allen Gregory. Meanwhile, Kasdan's participation within the new comedy comes from his overall cope with 20th TV, which arrived on the scene of his pointing stint about the pilot for Fox's new comedy New Girl, which 20th TV also co-produces with Chernin. Kasdan can serve as director/executive producer about the series starring Zooey Deschanel.
